Which rate should I use?

3% (Statutory)

Section 7 — amended 2021

Default legal rate when no interest rate is agreed upon in contract. Used for general money obligations.

5% (Default / Late payment)

Section 224

Applied when a party fails to pay on time (defaults on monetary obligation). Higher rate than statutory 3%.

MRR + 2%

Bank/Loan contracts
